Structural assessment and slab repair in a four-storey apartment building
Scope
Structural adequacy study for basement and ground-floor alterations, restoration of a Ø1.50 m slab opening with dowelled rebar and a new circular opening.
An investment company is renovating an apartment building with basement and roof terrace, with new layouts, external insulation and new parking. We checked the existing structure for the changes and designed the slab interventions.
Independent review showed the existing concrete was of a lower class than first assumed, so anchorage and reinforcement calculations were revised before construction.
